Are you worried about microplastics? You can do a lot of things to prevent microplastics ending up in the sea when you wash your clothes.
1. Consider whether you can only remove the stain instead of washing an entire garment.
2. Fill up the machine with each wash.
3. Wash with liquid detergent, it causes less friction on the clothes.
4. Avoid detergents with high PH and enzymes.
5. Wash at a low temperature.
6. Wash on a shorter cycle, longer cycles cause more wear on the fibres.
7. Centrifuge at lower speed. High speed cause more wear on the fibres.
8. Clean the filters often and empty the contents into the bin (not into the toilet or the sink).
9. Wash synthetic clothes in a separate bag that collects microplastics, for example a Guppy Washing Bag
