The Nordic Ecolabel is one of the Nordic region's most recognized environmental certification, and the logo is a confirmation of quality that we wear with pride.
As a consumer, you can trust that Swan-labelled clothing is safe to wear, both
for you and for our nature. Dangerous chemical alkalis are not permitted, either in fiber production, dyeing, washing or finishing the clothes. Swan-labelled clothing cannot contain hormone-disrupting substances, antibacterial substances or chemicals that are on the EU's Reach list of substances of particular concern. Swan-labelled wool garments are also not Superwash-treated.
In addition to environmental and health considerations for consumers, the Swan makes demands on working conditions for the suppliers. All Swan-labelled factories must have an internal quality system that takes care of social conditions in the production. The supplier must follow the international labor organization ILO's core conventions, and among other things, allow freedom of association. Child labor is of course prohibited, as is discrimination and forced labour.
Mulesing is not permitted for Swan-labelled wool.
